FAQ
What's the difference between sports massage and a regular massage?
A sports massage targets a specific area of muscle that needs attention, using techniques to release tension, improve range of movement and aid recovery. A relaxation massage is gentler and full-body. You don't need to be an athlete to benefit — it helps anyone with muscular tension, postural strain or everyday aches.
What is dry needling, and is it the same as acupuncture?
Dry needling uses fine, single-use needles inserted directly into tight bands of muscle, known as trigger points, to release tension and ease pain. Although it uses similar needles to acupuncture, it's based on Western anatomy and targets muscle and movement, rather than the energy pathways used in traditional acupuncture.
How often should I book a session?
It depends on your goals. For a specific injury or area of tension, a short series of sessions is often most effective. Many clients then return for regular maintenance every few weeks to stay mobile and prevent problems returning. We can agree a plan that suits you at your appointment.
What should I expect at my first appointment?
Every session begins with a short conversation about your goals, activity levels and any areas of concern, so the treatment is tailored to you. Wear or bring comfortable clothing. Afterwards it helps to keep moving, stretch gently and stay hydrated.
What my clients say
"I cannot recommend Emma enough. She is incredibly accommodating, thorough and professional. I've never experienced anyone else who can achieve the results I get after seeing her (improved mobility, reduced pain/tightness etc) while at the same time it being a wholly comfortable process. She is magic."
Claire
"Emma was very professional and extremely knowledgeable. The massage she provided me with was excellent. She targeted the area I highlighted needed attention. I highly recommend Emma."
Geraldine
"As a sports massage therapist myself, I can be quite picky about treatment quality, and Emma has genuinely impressed me. She has been helping me with neck pain, shoulder tightness, and back tension, and her treatments have made a real difference. She combines sports massage and deep tissue massage techniques with excellent knowledge and skill, always adapting the treatment to what’s needed rather than using the same approach every time."
